IIn Memoriam
In loving memory of Lida Hagopian, a gem of purest ray serene, an innocent soul, born in
the hallowed Old City of Jerusalem, whose footsteps also echoed
in the deserts of the Arabian Peninsula, and on the
sunswept sidewalks and distant shores
of Australia.
This is the world of Lida Hagopian, born on June 22, 1966 in the
city of Jerusalem, sacred to the three great monotheistic religions:
Christianity, Islam, Judaism.
It is a world of love and compassion, beauty, music and faith.
Along the cobblestoned, winding alleys of the Old City, and in its
unique ambiance of spirituality, she walked in the footsteps of the
great prophets.
And, to fulfill her dreams and longings for a more profound and,
perhaps, miraculous experience, she made a pilgrimage to
Lourdes.
There was a brief sojourn in the Arabian/Persian Gulf Sheikdom
of Kuwait, where she spent the first few years of her life and
learned to walk and talk, and where she first discovered the sea
and was initiated into its delightful mysteries.
In Sydney in the '60s, she went to her first school and found
Karen Bauer, her best friend.
But at the age of 12, she was back in Jerusalem again, for a
lengthy sojourn of 18 years.
She returned to Sydney in September, 1995.
Four years later, on the night of April 17, 1999, she was recalled
to her true Abode, abiding in the bosom of her Creator.
